Battens are inspected and removed/replaced if significant damage/rot is found. Remaining battens are re-screwed and secured, and if needed additional battens are added to comply with building codes and manufacturers specifications to allow the roof to be secured correctly.
Tarps are used during the removal process if the weather turns sour before that section is completed to protect your ceiling from water damage.
